Cervical Stenosis
Treatment
Cervical stenosis is the narrowing of the spinal canal which
in turn causes increases the incidence of pressure on the spine or nerve
roots. After all non-surgical spinal treatment
options have proven ineffective, lumbar surgery is often the most effective
treatment for cervical stenosis.
Cervical Stenosis
Symptoms
-
Varying degrees of neck pain
- Tingling or burning sensations in the arms and/or legs
- Pain and/or weakness in the arms, legs and shoulders
- Problems with bladder and bowel control
Lumbar Spinal Fusion
Lumbar fusion is a surgical procedure in which two vertebrae
are fused together in order to: eliminate motion in an enflamed vertebral
segment, relieve pressure on the spinal cord and/or nerve roots or to prevent
kyphosis.
Cervical Fusion
A cervical fusion is again the fusing of two or more
vertebra together. The cervical spine
consists of the top seven vertebrae, in the spinal column, as well as eight
pairs of cervical nervesuppers. A cervical fusion is a fusion surgery performed
on the vertebra in this area of the spine.
