City of Orlando Issues Proclamation to Orlando Orthopaedic Center

In recognition of our 50 years of service to the Central Florida community, Mayor Buddy Dyer, Commissioner Jim Gray and the City of Orlando proclaimed June 29th Orlando Orthopaedic Center 50th Anniversary Day.

Whereas, Orlando Orthopaedic Center was founded in 1972 by Drs. Mumby and Shea to provide accessible, affordable orthopaedic care; and

Whereas, over the years, Orlando Orthopaedic Center has grown to open eight offices, four walk-in clinics, and an ambulatory surgery center; and

Whereas, to increase the number of patients they could serve, the Orlando Orthopaedic Center has expanded from a single founding provider to more than 27 physicians, 13 physician’s assistants and over 350 employees; and

Whereas, by the year 2022, an estimated 140,000 patients have received life-enhancing care through their efforts; and

Whereas, for the last decade, the Orlando Orthopaedic Center Foundation has provided educational resources and financial support to foster sportsmanship, confidence, discipline, teamwork, and orthopedic injury prevention for Central Florida youth and professionals; and

Whereas, Orlando Orthopaedic Center celebrates its 50th year in service to the community and remains Orlando’s only large independent orthopaedic practice free of hospital or corporate ownership.
