Now Accepting Applications: 2022 Chris Payer Honorary Sports Medicine Scholarship

Orlando Orthopaedic Center Foundation’s Chris Payer Honorary Sports Medicine Scholarship is now accepting applications for 2022. Now in its third year, the scholarship is annually awarded to Orange and Seminole County High School graduating seniors who have participated in their high school’s student athletic training aide program and have declared a college major in the field of sports medicine.

Chris Payer, a founding board member of the Orlando Orthopaedic Center Foundation, was an ardent supporter of youth athletics and education before tragically passing away in 2019. With this annual scholarship program, we hope to honor his legacy.

Two applicants will be selected to receive $2,500 each to be used for college educational expenses after being evaluated based on academic success, engagement in high school student athletic training / sports medicine-related activities, and community involvement.

Last year, the applicants who received the award were Asha Harris, a 2021 graduate of Winter Park High School, and Natalie Green, a 2021 graduate of Lake Mary Preparatory School. This scholarship has helped them further their pursuit in the field of sports medicine.
